Greetings, everyone. You guys can call me Jeiiya (or Jei for short), and I am a simple nerd working on a project called Ivalice D20. As some of you may have guessed, Ivalice D20 refers to the Final Fantasy Tactics (this includes the PS1, GBA, and the DS games), Final Fantasy XII, and Vagrant Story worlds made into a D20-friendly game campiagne setting.
While I am aware that there are a bunch of D20 variants for Final Fantasy gameplay, I've decided to try and make as much original content as I can. I feel that it gives me alot more personal freedom if I just produce all my own variants from near scratch (such as races, some class feature tweaks, and monsters) using guidelines set by the base rules and such. Mind you that I base ALOT of my source material from the 3.5 core books (Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, and Dungeon Master's Guide), the Swashbuckling Adventures D20 book(published by Alderac Entertainment Group), and, strangely enough, the World of Warcraft D20 book (published by Sword and Sorcery). And moving on..
Ivalice is an interestingly large world that holds many unique locates, flying continents, strange beasts, and epic treasure. First created by Yasumi Matsuno, Ivalice is one of the largest worlds in the Final Fantasy series. Not to mention, Ivalice has appeared in many of the Final Fantasy games as one of the only repeating world. Many of the unique aspects of Ivalice include its many diverse races. Ivalice is home to nearly 10 different races that could easily be converted over into playable D20 style races (as it stands I have only selected seven of these awesome races to focus on, however of those seven moogles and viera are included). However, not only does Ivalice easily play into D20 terms, but also the background and history of the world is fairly widespread with at least five games contributing to different periods of time in which the world could be played (I have selected the timeframe that Final Fantasy XII takes place in for my version of the game, given that I will, in the far future, include more material for playing a more classical Ivalice).
In the end, I just want to say that I am working on a huge project right now, and I’ve only got a good idea of what the races of Ivalice look like on paper. This project is hopefully going to get finished in the end (whenever the hell that will be) with airships, espers, Ivalice, and all that Final Fantasy magic we’ve grown to love.
If you have any good pointers or would like to help me by submitting comments, links, and even material, please feel free to. I am open to any suggestion and I could use the extra help!
